Extreme Couponing

Though I enjoy the saving accomplished by some of the people who go though extremes to catch a deal, I feel extreme couponing will be the the end of couponing. Seriously people use what you have FIRST then go back for the things you NEED. I understand you can save in numbers but think about how much you are wasting. A family of 2 does not need 200 boxes of pasta or 50 packs of toilet paper! Flipping greedy Americans! Stop stocking your basements, linen closets, and children's rooms with stuff you cannot possibly use in 3 lifetimes! Now if you have a family of 6 and you are actually going to use the stuff that's a different story, of course. However, from what I've seen and heard these "extreme couponers" are pretty much hoarders of food and household items. The only thing that makes them different from the disgusting people on the show "Hoarders" is that they are organized...that's it. You are still collecting a house full of crap you don't need! Not only that, but extreme couponers are going to ruin it for the regular couponers! Eventually stores are going to tire of giving people $1000 worth of groceries for $2.00. Next thing we know, signs are going to be going up saying "we don't take coupons." Now what is that going to do to people who are out there trying to save money without taking advantage of the system? Those trying to save money on the things they NEED. Think about it. Americans so quick to ask for everything as apposed to working for something. Then, when given a little take it all. Ridiculous.

Book Review: Middlesex

Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides
Back Cover Overview: "Middlesex tells the breathtaking story of Calliope Stephanides, and three generations of the Greek-American Stephanides family, who travel from a tiny village overlooking Mount Olympus in Asia Minor to Prohibition-era Detroit, witnessing its glory days as the Motor City, and the racfe riots of 1967, before they move out to the tree-lined streets of suburban Grosse Point, Michigan. To understand why Calliopeis not like other girls, she has to uncover a guilty family secret, and the astonishing genetic history that turns Calli into Cal, one of the most audacious and wondrous narrators in contemporary fiction. Lyrical and thrilling, Middlesex is an exhilarating reinvention of the American Epic."

A Nu View: I found Middlesex to be an absolutely amazing book! It holds the reader from beginning to end and allows one to be encompassed by the life of Callie. I particularly enjoyed the background given of the Stephanides family and how their choices lead up to the choices Callie would have to make. I would definitely recommend this book to many one looking for a good read on both an intellectual and entertainment level. 5 stars from Nu's view!
